On Friday and Saturday we went out for tapas both nights. And tapas is like a small snack that you get for free when you order a beer or some other alcoholic drink. When we went friday we had pizza (yes super american but it was SOO good, like palermos good but completely different). It had ham on it. And then we had croquetas which look like jalapeño poppers but they are filled with cheese and meat. They are SOOOO good. We told Marieta that we really liked them and she is going to cook them for us tonight! And yesterday when we had tapas we went to a different bar, there were three rounds of tapas. The first we got to pick and we got hamburgers... they were so gross. it was a small piece of french bread with a small circle pattie with red sauce on top. and then the next two rounds our server got to pick and we got bocadillos (sandwiches)one full of sausages and the other some pork with the same red sauce that was on the hamburgers...not really good.
Normally, each morning in Spain, we have a really light breakfast. Marieta has cereal for us that we can access because normally we all will wake up at different times. At 2pm 'la comida' begins and goes until 5pm. This is 'siesta' but here they call it 'la comida.' This is when all the family members come home to eat lunch. During this time, all of the stores shut down and the reopen at 5 (but sometimes they dont feel like it). Lunch time is at 3pm for us and it is supposed to be the biggest meal of the day. We normally have a bowl of some sort of stew. Today however, i ate a bowl of lentils YUMMMMMMM! ...not. And with all of our meals we have mandarinas (clementines)to eat afterwards to help with absorption of nutrients and digestion. Then we eat dinner at about 8:45 each night, and this is usually something light. Two nights ago we had about 3oz of chicken, and a clementine.
When we meet people in Spain, it is customary to kiss on both cheeks each time you greet and when you say goodbye. It gets kind of exhausting because we all do that every time we greet now. haha
Also in Spain, it is legal to have your own pot plant and smoke it yourself. But it is completely illegal to sell it to people.
hahahaha love the part about the pot plant... so that does you absolutely no good lol
