what ive been eating lately

in spain we eat a lot of soup. they love it. soup practically everyday for lunch.

on the fifth day i was here, we had "crema de calabaza" for lunch. which is cream of pumpkin. they had some croutons in it and let me just say, wow. it was great.
-for dinner that night we had hamburgers, actually made out of ham. not a cow like we have in america?

then on the sixth day we had 'pasta con almejitas y gambas.' almejitas are baby clams and gambas are shrimp, realllllly small shrimp. she said that it was a very expensive dish. the sauce was made out of wine and garlic and oil that had the clams sitting in it...
-dinner was pizza. with ham on it. it was actually really good.

day 7. for lunch we had 2 fried eggs and some hashbrowns. and dinner was 'crema de calabacín' which is cream of zucchini. it had cheese in it and really was a green looking version of broccoli cheddar soup.

day 8 (today). lunch was navy bean soup with chorizo and morcilla. i didnt find out until after i ate all my morcilla that it was black pudding. aka dried blood from a pig.
and for dinner we had 'albondigas.' they are meatballs. made out of egg, meat, potato, and bread.

yesterday during the day, me, my friend allison, and one of my roommates becca decided to cut our own bangs!! and we also went for coffee and walked around town :)

ALSO in spain the street signs do not exist. they are all tiled signs that may or may not be on the side of a building near the end of the street. but anyways, here is the street sign to where my school is! CENTRO DE LENGUAS MODERNAS.

so yesterday, we went to a discoteca called Granada 10. And it was a welcome back party to all of the international students. There were free drinks from 11 to 12:30. And then you get a free drink at 1. also, all girls got in for free. so of course we had to be the first people there. the free drink was either "tinto de verano" (wine) or beer. and by wine i mean juice, if you know what i mean. i would say on average we had about 8 glasses each. but the cups are probably 6 inches high and one inch thick. the ice cubes that they fill to the top take up the entire width of the glass. so you can do the math, but thats not a lot of juice.

also, when we walked in the door we got to pick a sticker of our home countrys flag. of course i took england. by 12 the place was pretty packed. of americans. id say there were 85% american, 10% international, 5% spanish. so we finally met some spanish boys-one of them had grey hair (by choice............). then we danced to songs that are overplayed in america, YAY, and then it was time to get our free drink (juice again, we didnt get to pick). the night did seem to pick up at this point when the male GoGo dancers came out.. hahaha... one of the girls on the trip with us even got up there and started "dancing" with him. haha
