¿que pasó en españa?: el fin de semana!

This Friday we went to a discoteca called Camborio. It is a little over a mile form where we live, but the entire walk was up hill. It is located in the Albaicín, which is the Moorish quarter of Granada that "remains a medieval hillside warren of narrow cobbled streets" -my spain book. But once we finally reached practically the top of the mountain...there was a BEAUTIFUL view of the Alhambra. The Alhambra is a palace and a fortress complex that has still been left intact after the city was conquered in 1492. (same year as columbus sailed the ocean blue jaja) ..anyways, It was built by the Moorish rulers of the Emirate of Granada and it sits at the top of the hill overlooking Granada.

ANYWAYS: back to camborio. yes it was at the top of the hill, BUT it was actually a cave! they had little rooms dug out on the inside and they also had half of the club outside on like a patio that overlooked the alhambra.

there are also STOP signs here. ..i thought that was weird.

normally when we go out, we are the first people there. weve tried: 11:30pm, 12pm, 12:30...always the frist people. everyone here does not normally start going to the clubs until about 2am. SO crazy.

when we go out we always try to speak spanish for most of the night for practice and stuff. its really funny though because they play A LOT of american songs so we always just end up singing in english. but my friend becca will always change the words to spanish! its so funny because the rhythm is completely off!! for example: enrique's baby i like it ..is now: baby me gusta.... david guetta's getting over you instead of being "and party and party" is now: "y fiesta y fiesta y fiesta"

ALSO some exciting news! me and becca and allison (maybe amanda) have planned our first trip! we have about five days off the first week of february so we are planning on going to ireland :) very excited about this because i feel like last time i went we didnt really do much. but this time we are going to see the blarney stone and the cliffs of moher! yay!

i would also like to say, GO BEARS. yesterday me, jen, and becca went to a bar called Hannigans (irish owned) and watched the game!! we were very excited to hear that they play all the american sports. andddd they had their first pint of cider. how exciting for them! cant wait to see them beat green bay next week. :)

in other news, and in continuance of yesterday. me, becca, and jen (they are my roommates, i dont know if i said that before) went to the PARQUE DE FEDERICO GARCIA LORCA. it was so beautiful. they are palm trees all over the park and its really strange because you can see the snowy mountains at the same time! in the park they also have work out machines for people to use! its so crazy! there was an old lady working out in her black pants and coat and scarf with her purse hanging off the side of the elliptical arm. but the machines are made to be outside like things in a playground. they had machines to work out your abs, arms, an elliptical, and a gazelle type machine.
