For the weekend of March 11th, our program, CEA, planned a trip for us to go to Córdoba and Sevilla.
In Córdoba we went and saw the great mosque/cathedral that was built in 784. I put a slash between mosque/cathedral because before it was the Great Mosque and now it is a cathedral, but many people still argue about calling it either. The architecture is really beautiful. It is also a World Heritage Site. A World Heritage Site is a forest, city, town, building, lake, desert, mountain, that is listed by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) as of special cultural or physical significance. But first, here are some pictures that we took from walking around.
the tour guide told us that this is one of the most famous spots in córdoba to take a picture because of the flowers, the small walkway, and of course the view of the cathedral. (Jewish Quarter)

This is in the Jewish Quarter of Córdoba. The Jewish Quarter is the best-known part of Córdoba's center. And it was also declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984 and is one of the largest in Europe. The picture below is of Maimonides (1135-1204). He is one of the two most studied Jewish philosophers of all time, as well as a physician. It is also said that if you rub his foot- you will become smarter.
After touring the Jewish Quarter, we took our tour of the Great Mosque.

Then we got on the bus and headed to Sevilla! Here is a picture I took on the bus on the way there.
